About Arturo

Arturo is a consulting ruminant nutritionist and a custom grazer in the Flint Hills of Kansas. Through his consulting services, he guides beef producers in efficient, cost-effective feeding practices.   He has clients throughout the Great Plains and Southwest. His goal is to help every sector of the beef industry provide an excellent product for the consumer.  In addition to his consulting business, he and his wife manage a custom grazing business encompassing double-stock yearlings and a cow-calf herd of their own.

Arturo earned his PhD in Ruminant Nutrition from Kansas State University. He completed his Master’s degree in Animal Breeding and Genetics at Texas Tech University, where he also received his Bachelor’s degree.  He was raised in New Mexico on his family’s ranch and has worked on or managed grazing operations in a variety of environments from short grass to tall grass prairies.

He and his wife, Wrenn, have two little cowboys that keep them on their toes. Arturo also enjoys fly fishing, working with cattle, breeding Border Collies, and cooking. You can check out some of Arturo’s recipes on www.cookingwiththecowboy.com.
